Smoke coloured ground, soft and matte, with black pooling dark at the edges.
Through the middle a line of electric blue, running like water finding its way. Amber and gold burning along its banks where the two met. A pale field above it, almost cloud. Short black bars at the rim, laid down like brushstrokes and left alone.
I made the form. The fire made brought it to life. I don't control what comes out, and that is the point. Each piece if one off.

A painting that happened to land in a curve.
Black cutting across it in one gesture. Sand and bone coloured pours opening out from the centre, speckled dark the way ash falls through something. A flash of teal and copper low on the left, almost hidden. The forms reach outward from the middle without quite touching.

A pool of cobalt sitting in a milk white field.
The blue does not have an edge so much as a fray. It breaks apart at the border into speckle and filament, the way ink does when it hits water and keeps going. Rust bleeds in from the rim, warm against all that cold. The rim itself is pitted, dark, a bit ruined.
You look into it rather than at it.

Dark ground, almost black, the way a surface looks before anything is decided. Then the blooms. Cream and pale green opening through it like something coming up through water. Rust flecks where the heat caught. One dot of turquoise, small and deliberate, holding the whole thing still.

Sea green ground, speckled through with blue, like something seen underwater or worn back on a wall.
Around the edge, cream blooms pushing inward. They repeat but never match. Petals, clouds, breath on glass, depending on the day you look at it. The centre stays open and quiet and lets them do the talking.
